why i don’t homeschool

Kealoha: Mommy, I know what letter pony starts with

Me: Yeah? What does it start with?

Kealoha: P! And boat starts with B, and horse starts with h!

Me: Good job, baby!

Kealoha: And eyebrows start with I!

Me: Eyebrows start with an e

Kealoha: No, eyebrows start with I! Eeeeyebrows! See, it starts with I!

Me: Eyebrows start with the word eye, but it starts with the letter “e.” E-Y-E-B-R-O-W-S

Kealoha: That doesn’t make sense mommy. Eyebrows start with letter I!

Me: You’re right. It sounds like it should start with the letter I because “I” makes the eye sound. But sometimes, there are exceptions to the rules….

Kealoha: hmmpphh! Never mind!

Too funny! We contemplated homeschooling our kids. But in the end, we decided it would be better for them to go to conventional school. And I can totally see the wisdom in our decision! I can’t even convince my 3-year-old that eyebrows start with the letter E! lol!

i love this conversation.
sounds like the ones we have in our house.
as a former first grade teacher, i was hoping
sean would be reading by now, but i learned a long
time ago that he doesn’t like me being his ‘teacher.’
he doesn’t respond to me in that role and gets frustrated
easily. no home schooling in my house either.
