Control

In my devotions last week, I read this: “It is God who shapes your future, not man.”  It’s a lesson that I needed for that day. Something I need to remember each day. God is in control.

As I’ve been working on the website, doubts often creep in. I worry that I’m toiling in vain. I worry that no one will hire me so why bother. I worry that my prices will be too high. Or too low…But the sentence above reminded me that I have nothing to worry about. God is in control, and nothing – no experience- is ever wasted with Him. When we experience something joyful, the joy is a gift in itself. Yet, when we experience something difficult or terrible, a pearl of good always comes from it. Often times, we learn a lesson from it. Or we can use it to encourage someone at a later time.  This realization is so awesome to me.

It frees me to keep on striving. Because even if I fail, even if no one ever hires me, the experience of trying won’t be wasted. Nothing is wasted in Him. He’s awesome like that! :)

“And we know that ALL things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

that is awesome nelly, what the world calls failures is not really a failure if we are doing what He has called us to do. I think Kaala said it nicely when he said we are like the stones you find at the beach, many stones are sharp and jagged but as the waves pound it, and it is tossed around, it is refined into a smooth stone. It is all a process, something I have been learning with my attempt at the bar exam.

Keep on striving and I am sure your business will be successful, I will definately be hiring you, If I ever get married, and to do portraits of my family, if I have one.

Oh yeah don’t forget, don’t undervalue your services. You are a phenomenal photographer, with a great eye, a good assistants (keilah, kealoha, and david), and very creative.

I keep peeking to see when it will be done… When’s the BIG reveal? I want to party :)

Well, maybe I’ll party anyway.

Thank you for sharing your heart today. It seems like more than just you needed to be reminded of God’s provisions and His leading :)

Thanks for the encouraging comments, guys!

JJ, what Kaala said is so wise. Have you ever heard Nichol Nordemann’s “River God”? It talks about smoothing process. Beautiful song.

Susie, the big reveal will probably be in a few weeks. When I say I’m working on it slowly, I mean sloooowly. But sure, party anyway! :)

I’ve been a slacker in visiting, glad I stopped by today because these sentiments ring true with me too. I keep trying to remind myself all things He allows or doesn’t allow is for good reason. Here’s an excerpt from Lucado’s book “Traveling Light”– One thing is certain. When the final storm comes and you are safe in your Father’s house, you won’t regret what He didn’t give. You’ll be stunned at what he did.
