Hyatt Regency Waikiki Wedding: Brice and Dorena – Hawaii wedding photography

Brice and Dorena had an epic wedding, effectively combining Chinese and Christian traditions.

Makeup and hair started at 6:00 in the morning, and Dorena was literally up and happy for it! She was determined to let all the stress of wedding planning melt away so she could enjoy her special day.

Dorena’s sister, Dawna, who was also a bridesmaid, found a good use for her daughter’s birth certificate holder. The tube was perfect for stretching out her high heels!

Per Chinese wedding traditions, Brice had to bargain with Dorena’s family before he was allowed to see his bride.

The initial “demand” from the family was in the seven figures!

Dorena’s sister, Deanna, works for a venture capital firm in the Bay Area so she was perfect for overseeing the bargaining. She ultimately agreed to lower the asking price in exchange for a song and dance! :)

Then, it was onto a Chinese Wedding Tea Ceremony.

After lunch and a little rest, it’s off to get ready again! Now, it’s time to put on a pretty white dress!

Deanna was handy with make-up touch-ups!

Dawna was in charge of the veil.

It was a family affair. Even the bride got to work! Dorena’s family actually owns an auto body shop in Honolulu. I think they could have done well with a salon, too!

Wow. Those pictures are beautiful. I envy (not in a sinful way =) ) your eye. After perusing your site avidly, I actually bought a photography book in the hopes that I can improve my own picture-taking skills (or un-skills). I especially like the shots of the tea cups and tea pot and the last shot of the bride and groom.

Good Job Ren! I love the pictures! They all came out sooooo nice! I love the shots of everyone’s expressions that I missed like the bargaining and the children! Thanks sooooo much for being here and blessing us with your photos!

love,
mrs wong =)

Wow- even though I should be working, I watched the entire slideshow. It made me cry- in a good way, of course. (what is the music playing in the background?)

I love your blog- thanks for gently sharing your photography and your witness.

Best regards,
Debi
