Family Portraits: David, Norva, and Dominic

Though we’d never met before, Dominic quickly warmed up to me. He was not shy at all about taking my hand, leading me to the water, then running right back to his parents when he saw the waves coming. He was so active, never staying still, as I chased him around with my camera. I knew all those years of running after my girls would pay off! :) I loved it!

Oh, and he rewarded me with a couple kisses goodbye. Such a sweetheart! Have I mentioned lately how much I love my job?

what? no comments…how could that be?
these are beautiful and that little one is precious! number 1 is my favorite…but of course they are all great!

can you tell me what you do to those photos to make them look all “vintage” like?

nely - November 20, 2007 - 1:45 pm

Thanks, Cynthia. I use textures to make the photos vintagey. You can get some from textureking.com or shoot some yourself. Then you layer those over your toned photo, reduce the opacity to taste, and change blending layer mode to multiply, screen, and/or overlay (sometimes i have 3 or more texture layers and use all those modes). Then, you mask for your subject so they’re not splotchy. Please let me know if you want visuals.I can do some screen shots.

Nely, these are SO gorgeous! Norva sent them to us and we were all blown away. Is it me, or can you make any kid look like the cutest kid ever? And you also captured Norva’s great joy at being a Mommy, which was really beautiful to see. I hear you have another session today….can’t wait to see those too. And we made some new friends yesterday who you may be hearing from. Thanks for doing such beautiful work that brings joy to all of us, and hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your family!

Thanks, everyone. I appreciate the comments.

David, are you calling me mature? I think I’m offended! :P

Cynthia, I will put together some screen shots for you. I’m very visual, too, so I understand.

Alyssa, thanks! Every kid is the cutest kid ever! :) I did have a session yesterday with Yinghong, Christopher, and Sophia. We had so much fun at the beach, I got carried away taking pictures. I’m having a difficult time editing down to a double-digit number. A good problem to have though. :)

Nely, we really enjoy all the photos!! It’s too hard to pick out Christmas cards!
You are a talented photographer. Thanks for including us in your blog.
