Ten on Tuesday

I just realized I haven’t done one of these in a while…

1. Thank goodness for Netflix instant movies. They saved my sanity this weekend as I had to spend the weekend knocked out by the flu.

2. I might be the last person on earth to discover the Kieslowski gem,  The double Life of Veronique. Every frame was visual poetry, beautifully done. It was so inspiring, it made me want to go out and shoot some slide film so I can have them cross-processed. Sure, the cross-processed look can be achieved digitally, but there’s just something about film…

3.  Kealoha has been singing God bless America a lot, recently. Except her version goes like this:

” From the mountains to the prairies, to the oceans white with PHO!”

4.  We tried to correct her and tell her that last word is foam, but she would not be budged. Our kids do love pho. When Keilah was two, she used to say she smelled good because she smelled like pho. Oy!

5. Anyone else love North and South? I won’t admit how many times I’ve watched the ending. Sigh. Is it any wonder I’m a wedding photographer? I’m a hopeless sap!

6.  I’m loving the Dinner Tonight videos at myrecipes.com. The recipes are easy enough with accessible ingredients. Great for non-cooks like me.

7. I’ve been thinking of taking tae kwon do except I’m so uncoordinated, I might just embarrass myself. My college friends – who have visions of me bumping into everyone else at an aerobics class way back when – are dying laughing right now. :)

8. I took the girls to see Madagascar today. Here’s how the kids convinced their dad to let us go without him:

11:24 AM me: can wy see madgasgro2?

11:25 AM David: is wy supposed to be we?

  madagascar 2

You mean right now? Without me?

11:26 AM I heard it was better than the first one.

11:28 AM me: yes madugasgro thank you daddyy

 David: madagascar

11:31 AM me: please, daddy. can we see it? we’ll tellyou all about it afterwards.

11:33 AM David: what time is the movie?

11:34 AM me: it is me kealoha 1:30

11:35 AM David: so you guys are going to drop me off after lunch then right?

11:39 AM me: yes

 David: ok.

11:40 AM me: thak you daddy

11:41 AM David: You are very welcome

11:43 AM me: love you love kealoha

11:44 AM David: did you type that all by yourself? No one helped you with the spelling?

 me: i love you daddy

 David: I love you too!

11:45 AM me: yes i did

11:48 AM love kealoha j fok

 David: awesome!!! Great job!

9. Thank you to the heroes who fought and continue to fight for our freedoms. God bless America, indeed!

10. I will be posting photos here again soon. I need to get editing.

Hope all is  well with you all!

How was the movie? I didn’t see the first one but I heard it was really funny.

I love these posts from you! I’ve been eyeing North and South for a long time but have this self imposed rule where I try to read the book before seeing the movie… well you know these days time is just a whirlwind so I think I’ll just break my rule this once and get it before I read it. Trying to get through Anna Karenina right now oy! Anyway, thanks for the recommend and I sure hope you are feeling much better my friend!
btw, a must see if you haven’t already, Wives and Daughters. Yes, I read that book before I watched the movie LOL

Scott, Madagascar was awesome! The Nana was the best! Hilarious – though there were many times I was the only one laughing in the theater- so ymmv.

Row, I have Wives and Daughters next on my cue! Now, I can’t wait to see it even more!

You were probably the third to the last person on earth to hear about The Double Life of Veronique. I hadn’t heard about it and I always hear about things before Kristie! ;-) I will have to add that to the Netflix queue.
